8 Tips for Visiting Cassis in Provence

While exploring the breathtaking region of Provence, be sure to indulge in a visit to the coast. Just an hour's drive from Marseilles or Aix-en-Provence, including Cassis in your Southern France itinerary is an absolute must.

Below are eight quick suggestions to ensure your day by the sea is simply perfect ⬇️

1. Arrive Early:

Cassis is small and parking is limited, so get there before mid-morning (especially in summer). A good parking garage is Cassis Parking Mimosas - sadly, no Mimosas served upon entry. 🅿️

2. Booking Boat Tours:

If you want to see the Calanques by boat, you can book tickets directly at the harbour. There are many departure times, but I recommend the one that allows you to swim.
They leave at 9:15am, noon, 2pm, and 4pm. ⛵️

3. Wear Good Shoes:

If you plan on hiking to the Calanques, the terrain is rocky and slippery. 👟

4. Bring Swim Gear:

The beaches and Calanques are irresistible for a dip; pack a swimsuit, towel, and water shoes (the beaches are pebbly). 🤿

5. Stay Sun-Safe:

Shade is rare in the Calanques, so bring sunscreen, a hat, and lots of water. ☀️

6. Sample Cassis Wine:

The town is famous for its crisp white wines; stop by a vineyard or try a glass with lunch by the harbor. 🥂

7. Check Market Days:

Visit on Wednesday or Friday mornings to browse the lively Provençal market. 🍋

8. Check out the Village Streets:

As wonderful as the sea is, make sure to take time to explore the charming lanes around the harbor, browse the small boutiques, and treat yourself to a gelato while soaking up the Provençal atmosphere. 🍦
